Coffee and Content - All Your Filmmaking, Screenwriting, Acting, Industry Questions Answered (& More!)

Happy Sunday, everyone.

This is going to have to be a quick one. As the official film networking and educational partner of the conference, it's been wall to wall for the Stage 32 team at the American Film Market (AFM), and this morning I am leading a talk on independent film financing with the CEO's of Hyde Park Entertainment, Bold Film, Cold Iron and the President of Millennium Entertainment.

So, in short, time has been limited. But you know I wouldn't leave you hanging with just your coffee! So, here's some content...

A few weeks back I hosted a webcast with hundreds of creatives and answered a wide variety of questions. Just some of the ground we covered included:

  • The declining value of actors as it relates to the foreign pre-sale market and options on how to overcome the changing market
  • The most common mistakes amateur screenwriters make as it relates to getting read and how to fix them
  • How some actors are gaining an advantage through their online brand
  • Why you are not getting the response from people of influence that you hoped for and what you can do to change the narrative?
  • How to assure the talent/representative relationship stays productive and progressive
  • What constitutes meaningful intellectual property?ors are gaining an advantage through their online brand
  • Why listening to the wrong voices could set your career back years and how to find trusted advisors
  • What are TV executives looking for in a meeting with screenwriters (bibles, character arcs, full series scripts, and more)?
  • Should the approach to finding financing for a film begin regionally or should the whole world be in play?
  • In an industry that’s all about relationships, how people on the craft and business sides can begin building meaningful relationships today and stand out to people of influence?
  • Why you are not getting the response from people of influence that you hoped for and what you can do to change the narrative?
  • How to assure the talent/representative relationship stays productive and progressive
  • What constitutes meaningful intellectual property?
  • The importance of screenwriters knowing exactly what’s happening in the marketplace and how to stay on top of every move to give yourself a competitive advantage and waste less time

Again, this is just some of what we covered!

So dig in, brew that coffee and let's spread some inspiration, motivation and straight up knowledge on this beautiful Sunday. Whaddaya say?

As always, I ask that you please share this content with those you think would benefit from viewing. And, as always, I welcome your thoughts in the comments section below.
