Coffee & Content: Ensembles & Dinner Scenes

Happy Sunday, Creative Army!
I hope those celebrating Thanksgiving had a nice long weekend of feasts, football, and parades, and I hope everyone all around the world had a nice relaxing weekend. I've got holiday gatherings on my mind, my coffee in hand, and your weekly dose of content coming in hot - grab your coffee of choice, and let's dive right in.
From Thanksgiving through Christmas and the New Year, this time of year is all about gathering. And who doesn't love a great ensemble film? There are so many great ones, but for every LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE, there are dozens of misses. The ability to tell a story from multiple perspectives and FILM it in a way that balances everyone and the film's themes is no easy feat. Here to help us with the script is The Hollywood Reporter with its annual Writers' Roundtable, and this year's guests are all about family and ensemble, with Chinonye Chukwu (TILL), Daniel Kwan (EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE), Jordan Peele (NOPE), Martin McDonagh (THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN), Rian Johnson (GLASS ONION), and Tony Kushner (THE FABELMANS).
Next up, StudioBinder is helping us film these big group films with a lesson in filming a dinner scene. These scenes are quintessential to these kinds of films, but they are also filled with lots of dialogue and little action, creating a challenge to make them interesting and cinematic. This video shows you tips and tricks to keep your ensemble story moving and interesting even when your cast of characters is sitting still.
