Happy Sunday, Creative Army!

Have you had a creative weekend so far? I have some content here for you that is sure to get the creative juices flowing, so grab your coffee, and let's dive in.

No matter what kind of script you're writing, you are creating a world from scratch. It doesn't matter how realistic things may appear. Everything on screen has to play by the rules of that world and its society. This applies to everything the characters say and do, as well as the environments where they live. So this week, we're looking at the worlds of two very different and highly stylized movies from this summer: BARBIE and ASTEROID CITY.

First up, Architectural Digest and Margot Robbie take us inside the infamous doll's Dreamhouse and the neighborhood of the Barbies. This isn't a simple house tour like you would normally find in AD's videos. Instead, we get to understand what was going on inside the minds of director Greta Gerwig and the production team, understanding how they grounded the world in pointed time references and the rules of the world that harken back to how kids play with the dolls.

Next, in this video from Vanity Fair, we learn all the elements that go into creating the worlds of Wes Anderson. This director's style has countless videos on what makes it stand out and tips on how to emulate the style. But it's more than just the colors and centering things in frame. The choices made by this team amplify the humor, emotion, story, and the viewers' experience.
