Coffee & Content: Take Risks & Break Rules!
Happy Sunday, Creative Army!
Have you had a creative weekend so far? I have some content here for you that is sure to get the creative juices flowing, so grab your coffee, and let's dive in.
First up, in this video from Frame Voyager, they’re breaking down the groundbreaking VFX production of Twister! The 90s was an incredible era for film, but especially for films that stretched the viewer’s imagination with the use of emerging technology such as CGi and 3D Animation. Twister was a movie that pushed the limits of that new tech, thanks in large part to Steven Spielberg’s commitment to making the tornados and storms feel as real and terrifying as possible. The commitment of everyone involved, but especially the artists at ILM, led to the creation of tools that quite literally changed the game in terms of VFX and the landscape of filmmaking forever. Yet they didn’t rely ONLY on VFX, they challenged themselves to also film as much of the movie as possible on location and with practical effects. They took huge risks on both sides, which undoubtedly paid off.
Have you been equally brave in your creative pursuits? In this business, you’ll hear a lot of the same advice again and again, from people who will discourage you from trying things. I’m here to tell you that regardless of that, never be afraid to take a leap of faith in your career. Believe in yourself and take some risks! Learn more in this video!
