Coffee & Content: The Wes Anderson Aesthetic & The Psychology of Character Relationships

Happy Sunday Creative Army!

Have you had a creative weekend so far? I have some content here for you that is sure to get the creative juices flowing, so grab your coffee and let's dive in.

First up, our friends over at Studio Binder recently put together a fascinating breakdown of Wes Anderson's iconic directing aesthetic. This video illustrates Wes Anderson's style throughout the entire filmmaking process including story, production design, color, editing, music, and more. They use examples from Wes Anderson's body of work including: The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Darjeeling Limited, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Rushmore, and The Royal Tenenbaums.

Next up, GQ has a series of videos featuring real-life experts discussing their fields as they have been depicted on screen. In this particular video, a marriage and family therapist breaks down scenes from couples fighting in movies and tv shows. You will see examples from Bridgerton, Marriage Story, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Malcolm & Marie, The Office, and Euphoria. Whether you are a writer, director, or actor - this video will provide an interesting insight into the psychology of characters and the relationships they have with each other.
