You Are the CEO of Your Creative Career - Take Control!

You Are the CEO of Your Creative Career - Take Control!

Greetings from London where we just finished our sold-out screening of our 4th Annual Film Program at the Raindance Film Festival. It was fantastic to see so many of our educators and executives in attendance, at our afterparty, and during our meetings throughout the week. We'll be sharing more here on the blog soon.
Those of you who know me have heard me stress that too many creatives focus nearly exclusively on their craft. They don't take the time to keep on top of what's happening in the business, but also learning how to best navigate the industry. In my opinion, this is what leads so many creatives to feel as if success is out of reach or leave the game entirely. But I'm here to tell you that's not the case. And a simple shift in attitude and approach can make all the difference.
In short, you are the CEO of your creative career. It's not about what you are controlling, it's about what you're not.
I had the pleasure of being a guest on Alex Ferrari's new podcast, Filmtrepeneur, where we discussed the business being a film creative. This is my 9th or 10th appearance on an Alex hosted podcast. If you've listened to any of those in the past, you know we get down to the root of things in a blunt, honest, and fun fashion. And this time was no different. We had a blast, and we think you will as well.
Titled Putting the Show Back in Show Business, Alex and I dig deep into what creatives can do to shorten their paths to success. I outline some lessons I learned along the way, not only in my creative journey and as the CEO of Stage 32, but while running RAZOR Magazine. We talk about what you can do in the day to day to keep control of your creative pursuits, how to keep the positive energy flowing while cutting the negativity out of your life, how to find a competitive advantage in every situation, how to recognize failings in your approach and rapidly pivot, how to change your daily habits, and how to become the CEO of YOU INC.
Sit back and enjoy! We look forward to hearing your thoughts!
Cheers.
