1st assistant director (1st AD)

The first assistant director, often shortened to “1st AD,” is the crewmember responsible for making sure everything on set is flowing as expected on the day of the shoot. This is the director’s overseeing eye. The first assistant director organizes the entire crew, prepares the shooting schedules, and guarantees production activity is executed as planned.
