Cinema verité is a French word meaning “true cinema.” Cinema verité is a filmmaking style dedicated to capturing “real life” or utilizing techniques in a fictional film that suggests the viewer is peering into the characters' lives. It was part of the French New Wave movement and popularized by David and Albert Maysles in the states.
