dystopia

Dystopia is an imaginary, wretched, dehumanized, dismal, fearful, bad, oppressive place or landscape, often initiated by a major world crisis (post-war destruction) coupled with an oppressive government, crime, abnormal behavior, etc. Dystopia is the opposite of "utopia" (a state of ideal perfection).
