VCR

VCR, an abbreviation for Video-Cassette Recorder, is a consumer-level machine for home entertainment that plays back and records images and sounds from TV on magnetized tape in a videotape cassette. VHS stands for "Video Home System" or the 1/2 inch video cassette tape format. See also "U-matic" or "beta."
